In Brazil, the Universidade do Rio Grande do Sul, located in Porto Alegre, has announced the establishment of a new physical research center (Centro de Pesquisas Fisicas) whose aim is to promote studies in the physical and mathematical sciences. The executive director is Luiz Pilla.
