Physics Today

Astronomy as a major course of study is now being offered at the Pennsylvania State University. The newly established four‐member Astronomy Department officially became part of Penn’s College of Science last July 1 and is headed by John P. Hagen, professor of radio astronomy and director of the University’s Radio Astronomy Laboratory.
