The newly established American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics has become an Affiliated Society of the American Institute of Physics, bringing to twelve the number of organizations that are thus associated with the AIP. The 36 000‐member AIAA was formed this past winter through the merger of the American Rocket Society with the Institute of the Aerospace Sciences. The resulting organization is a single, integrated body representing the aerospace profession.
