First Annual Report Submitted to Congress
Physics Today

The first annual report of the National Science Foundation was transmitted to Congress on January 15th by the President, who stated that the funds appropriated for the Foundation’s programs “represent a long‐term investment in the national security no less than the funds presently being invested in the expansion of productive capacity to carry us through a long period of partial mobilization”.
