IUPAP in Holland

APR 01, 1949
Karl K. Darrow

The sixth General Assembly of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics was held on July 8–10, 1948, at Amsterdam, Holland, in the University of Amsterdam. The report which follows is drawn slightly from the writer’s memories and notes, mostly however from documents SG 48–6 and SG 48–8 recently received from P. Fleury, Secretary‐General of the Union. It is stated in one of these that the complete procès‐verbal of the meeting will eventually be published as a brochure, which will no doubt be thick. The writer confirms from his memories that the hospitality of the Dutch to the Assembly, collectively and to its individual members, was magnificent.
