Iran increases cooperation with IAEA inspectors

OCT 15, 2015
Physics Today

Wall Street Journal : As part of the approval for the nuclear agreement between Iran and China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK, and the US, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is performing a probe into Iran’s past nuclear work. Initially, Iran had been minimally cooperative with the probe, but in response to warnings from the IAEA and some Western governments, its officials have become more open in the discussions, which are scheduled to be completed today. IAEA board members have until mid-December to decide whether Iran has satisfied the agency’s questions. Iran has always denied that it worked on a weapons program. The IAEA says that until last week, Iran had complied with the probe but only at a superficial level. Following the increased diplomatic pressure, however, the country has been more forthcoming, but the IAEA has not provided additional details.
