Industrial Research Medal

James B. Fisk, president of Bell Telephone Laboratories, was awarded the Industrial Research Institute Medal during the organization’s 25th anniversary dinner in May. The citation to Dr. Fisk honored his “eminence in the inspiration and conduct of research in industry, and vision which has advanced the science and use of the nucleus and of the crystal”. Awarded annually since 1945, the Medal is given for “outstanding accomplishment in or management of industrial research which contributes broadly to the development of industry or the public welfare”.
