In the Jupiter‐Comet Clash of 1994, Astronomers Are the Big Winners

Jupiter has now emerged from the Sun’s glare into the dark sky of pre‐dawn. The giant planet still shows scars—stretched by Jovian winds for more than six months—from its battle with Comet Shoemaker‐Levy 9. The comet lost the battle.
