Physics Today

BBC : A new division is being created by IBM for its Watson cloud computing system. In its new home in New York City, IBM Watson will focus on commercial applications of its prodigious computing power. Unlike current computers, Watson can not only process information but also read and understand language, analyze data, and learn by its successes and failures and by tracking feedback from users. The company plans to create Watson-related apps that can answer questions and make recommendations in a number of fields, including medicine, financial advising, and scientific research.
