HENRY A. BARTON has announced his decision to resign as director of the American Institute of Physics as of July 1, 1957, after having served in that administrative post for nearly twenty‐six years. He has, however, agreed to continue his association with the Institute on a part‐time basis, devoting his efforts to particular projects in which he is especially interested. His successor as AIP director, appointed by the Governning Board at its meeting of March 16th, will be Elmer Hutchisson, dean of the Graduate School and director of the Research Division of Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, who was instrumental in founding and for eighteen years was editor of the Institute’s Journal of Applied Physics.
