Graduate programs

DEC 01, 1965
Physics Today

Vanderbilt University is inaugurating a master’s degree program in astronomy. Besides preparing students who intend to go on for their doctorate, the program will help fill the need at Vanderbilt’s Dyer Observatory for personnel trained in research techniques, instrumentation, and astronomy fundamentals. A further aim will be to provide an astronomy background for engineers seeking space‐science careers. Prospective candidates should have strong undergraduate training in physics, engineering physics, or electrical engineering, and while training in astronomy is advantageous, it is not essential. Further information can be obtained from the Director, A. J. Dyer Observatory, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. 37203.
