Carbon-capture projects proving difficult to implement

OCT 10, 2013

New York Times : In an effort to reduce atmospheric carbon emissions and mitigate global warming, various carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects have been proposed or are in the works. Because CCS technology has proven difficult to adopt on a commercial scale, however, the number of projects has dropped from previous years. According to a recent report by the Global CCS Institute, there were 75 projects in various stages of planning and development in 2012; that number has now decreased to 65. Despite the challenges involved, the Global CCS Institute urges continued support for CCS as essential to curbing the increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
