Canada renews its support of the International Space Station

MAR 01, 2012
Physics Today
Huffington Post : Canada has decided to extend its commitment to the International Space Station from 2015 to 2020. It’s the last of the five ISS partners to commit to supporting the station through its current projected life span. The announcement came as the heads of the major space agencies were arriving in Quebec City for an international conference to discuss the space station’s future. Although the US, Russia, Japan, and the member states of the European Space Agency had already announced their continued support, Canada had delayed its decision because of financial considerations and the US decision to stop launching space shuttles. Canada’s approval may mean the nation’s astronauts will return to space sooner than expected.
