DOI: 10.1063/1.3128912

The Atomic Energy Commission has established the National CTR Computer Center at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for the purpose of providing a significant increase in computing power and services to controlled‐thermonuclear research contractors. The center will be managed by the AEC Division of Controlled Thermonuclear Research, which is directed by Robert L. Hirsch. Present plans call for the installation at Livermore next spring of a dedicated class‐IV computer that will be the hub of a nationwide network connecting the four major CTR laboratories to the central site by wide‐band leased lines.
