ACA Becomes Associate Member Society

ON May 6, 1959, the American Crystallographic Association became the first national scientific organization to join the American Institute of Physics as an Associate Member Society. Under the terms of a change in the Institute’s Bylaws which went into effect in January 1958, it is provided that societies having a primary interest in fields of science closely related to physics or the applications of physics may be nominated for associate membership by the AIP Governing Board and elected by vote of the Institute’s Member Societies. Having been duly nominated and elected, the Association is expected to complete arrangements sometime this month for naming its representative to the AIP Governing Board.
