Noncrystalline solids

Upon receipt of the announcement of this conference, the standard reaction (after the usual quick check on location—choice or otherwise) seems to have been, “what do they mean by that?” This, of course, was also the organizing committee’s question—“what is a ‘noncrystalline solid’?”
