Samuel R. Spencer, retired chairman of the department of physics of Baylor University, died June 18 at the age of seventy‐seven. He attended Decatur College, Baylor University, Chicago University, Yale, and received his PhD degree from the University of Iowa in 1925. Dr. Spencer, dean of Baylor University for eight years, was very active as an advisor on technical matters for the city of Waco, Texas. He was a member of the American Physical Society and the American Chemical Society.
