Obituary of Donald Hagerman (1929-2013)

In the early 1960s he was chosen along with three other scientists to begin the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility, LAMPF, still in operation. He participated in the design, building, and operation of the accelerator and became Division Leader. He retired in 1990 to Denver, Colorado.

Donald Hagerman was born May 2, 1929 in Boulder, Colorado. Following graduation from Idaho Springs High School, he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, graduating with a degree in Physics, Magna cum Laude, in 1951. He pursued his PhD at Stanford under W. K. H. Panofsky, receiving his degree in 1955 and subsequently accepting a position at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory.
