Obituary of Carroll W. Zabel

Barbara Zabel

Former member of The American Physical Society and subscriber of Physics Today, died in Boulder, Colorado, where he and his wife Grace had retired in 1984. He received a PhD in Physics from MIT in 1949,worked at MIT “Rad Lab” (Radiation Lab)during WWII, and at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory from 1949 to 1964. Until his retirement, Zabel taught physics at the University of Houston. From 1965 to 1969, he was on the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, serving as Chairman in 1968.
