Nuclear Data Exchange

JUL 01, 1963
Physics Today

One consequence of the first “Atoms for Peace” Conference in Geneva in 1955 was the decision by the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada to enter into collaboration in the area of basic nuclear data under the terms of existing bilateral agreements for cooperation among the three countries. Accordingly, the Tripartite Nuclear Cross‐Sections Committee (TNCC) was formed to foster a better understanding of mutual problems involving the basic nuclear‐data requirements of the atomic energy programs of the three governments. The accomplishments of the TNCC during the years following its establishment were considerable; the committee was so successful, in fact, that its functions are now being absorbed by a successor, the European‐American Nuclear‐Data Committee (EANDC), which is patterned after the Tripartite group but also includes the countries of Western Europe.
