On the reuse of US Navy reactors

Dave Dooling’s suggestion for reusing old naval reactors has precedent. I visited the US Air Force Ballistic Missile Early Warning System installation at Thule Air Base in Greenland in the mid 1990s. While there, I was told the diesel-fueled electric generators at the Top Camp radar site had been salvaged from World War II–era submarines. Recycling naval reactors has merit and represents a prudent use of tax dollars.
